News out of the Capitol this week as Springfield police are in the process of investigating a home invasion that ended in a lot of blood being shed, thankfully it appears all of it belonged to a person who made the idiotic decision to try and invade a gun owner’s home.
The Springfield Police Department is reporting that at about 12:40 PM on Wednesday, September 27th a homeowner whose name has not been released to the general public was the target of an attempted break-in near the 1800 block of East Keyes Street.
Officers made their way to the scene a few moments after the homeowner called them and said that he had shot someone who had broken into his house.
After the police arrived they took more information from the homeowner and took the bleeding and broken criminal away. First to Springfield’s Memorial Medical Center for treatment, where the suspect is in stable condition, then the police will be taking him to jail for his idiotic attempt at a crime.
At this point, there has been no statement from police regarding whether or not the homeowner would be charged with a crime for the shooting, but considering most of the information they received was from the extremely cooperative homeowner, it wouldn’t appear that they are looking that way.
So, once again, we see another case of a homeowner being able to perhaps protect his life thanks to the greatest tool in his arsenal, his firearm. Now if only the state government can get behind this idea, maybe there would be fewer people ready to commit crimes so easily around Illinois.
However, according to police, the investigation is still ongoing and they are asking for the public’s assistance. If you might have any information regarding this incident, you are asked to call the Springfield Police Department at (217) 788-8311 or Crime Stoppers at (217) 788-8427.
