Last Wednesday night was certainly a hectic one for employees and customers at a Dolton Advance Auto Parts Store. Nobody expected their calm evening of business to be interrupted by a man with a gun but as you likely know, moments like these can appear out of thin air.
It was around 8:00 in the evening in the Advance Auto Parts when a 20-year-old man walked into the shop with a gun and the mindset to take the place for all that it was worth.
However, the suspect didn’t realize that he wasn’t the only one who was armed that evening.
The robber ran out of the store, towards a concealed carrier who was in the parking lot of the store and the two began a shootout. According to police there was some damage sustained to the building in the form of broken glass from the carrier’s bullets but the damage to the building was nothing in comparison to the direct hit on the robber.
It turns out that the concealed carrier’s aim was true enough to hit the robber during the climactic shootout between the two. This hit stopped the robber in his tracks and cleared the scene enough for folks to call the police and paramedics for the robber.
As police and ambulances arrived, the robber was taken to St. Bernard Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead from his wounds.
As for the police and their end of the story, the concealed carrier will not be charged for his shots fired, as they were well within his right to not only protect himself but the people around him from the criminal who will no longer be plaguing the streets of Dalton.
